Central Brooklyn CSA member Alisa Bruza is working with a farmer from Raindance Organic Farm near Cooperstown, NY, to start a buying club that would deliver organically, sustainably raised meat and cheese to subscribers in the Crown Heights area. The farm offers:
– aged 1 year raw milk “sun” cheese
– certified organic ground beef, steaks and sausages
– whey-fed, pastured pork
– and more
No minimum order is required, and there are no delivery fees. The next delivery date is this Saturday, October 30. If you or someone you know are interested in placing an order, please contact Alisa and visit Raindance Organic Farm’s website for more info.
This Cilantro Noodle Bowl recipe uses a whopping 2 cups of cilantro so none of your beautiful herbs go to waste. Swap steamed carrots for the Romanesco or broccoli.
Did you know that the combination of lightly sauteed carrots, onions, and celery are known as a mirepoix (said like “meer pwah”)? A mirepoix is the seasoning base for stews, soups, and stocks. It is also the foundation of this delightful French-Style Lentil Salad that packs perfectly for brown bag lunches.
Yesterday’s share included Carrots, Radishes, Broccoli, White Potatoes, Red Potatoes, Sweet Potatoes, Jalapeno Peppers, Tomatillos, Collard Greens, Kale, and Cilantro.
Due to technical issues with the recipes page, Recipe Roundup will be posted on the main page for now. (p.s. If you are a WordPress expert, please email us!) Volunteers are vital to the operation of our CSA, as we are a member-run organization. If you haven’t been able to fulfill your volunteer hours yet this season, there is still time! Please contact Volunteer Coordinator, Richelle Trivedi, at email@example.com to ask how you can help.
If you can’t make it to a volunteering slot during distribution, there are lots of other ways to help out. Richelle can help you find a volunteer activity that will fit your schedule.
This week’s share included tomatillos, tomatoes, hawaiian & aji dulce peppers, broccoli, butternut squash, spinach, beets, carrots, and parsley! Check out the latest Recipe Roundup on our recipes page for some kitchen inspiration!
